Strategic Approach
• Construction of substantial Healthcare facility close to town centre within low-rise residential area and heritage asset buildings adjacent.
• Very restricted access for construction traffic.
• Sensitive location, proximity of neighbouring dwellings and significant flood risk and level constraints limited available land for development.
• Requirement to secure cross-stakeholder support for project.
Results
• Assessed local area and explored restrictions on building within the conservation area.
• Created 3D navigable model of interior and exterior of the substantial building, showing how it sat within the sloping site and how it sat within the existing street scene which was maintained.
• The model and ability to “walk around” the interior and exterior, enabled planners, investors, and potential residents to take virtual tour and fully understand the facility before it was built.
• Maximised accessibility in design, promoting comfortable independent living for residents.
